Your address stays with us.
This page covers the app and the launch list on this site. Your health data stays on your Mac and never reaches us.
How the app treats your dataThe app
Negative Splits reads the Apple Health data you allow on your iPhone and sends it to your Mac over your own network, encrypted with a key only your devices have. It's stored only on your Mac. Nothing goes to a server of ours, we have no account system, and the only thing in iCloud is that key, in your iCloud Keychain. We never receive your health data, and the app has no analytics or tracking.
The maps are Apple Maps. To draw them and to name the stretches you run most, the Mac asks Apple for map tiles and place names, as any app with a map does; those requests carry a place on the map, not your runs or health data.
Health data is never used for advertising and is never sold or shared.
This website
Your language
When you open negativesplits.app without a language in the address and have not chosen one, our server picks one for you: the language of the country your connection is in (Czech for Czechia, German for Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein), otherwise the first of Czech, German or English in your browser's settings, otherwise English. The country is looked up in a table on our own server, so your address is not sent to any other service, and it is not saved with your email address.
One cookie
If you choose a language in the footer menu, your browser keeps that choice in a cookie called ns_lang for a year, so your next visit opens in it. The cookie holds the language and nothing else, and it goes only to this site. There are no other cookies on this site.
Your colour choice
If you use the light or dark switch in the header, your browser keeps that choice in its local storage under the name ns-theme, so your next visit opens in the same colours. It is not a cookie, it holds the word light or the word dark and nothing else, and it stays in your browser: it is never sent to us.
Where the country data comes from
The table of countries is the IP to Country Lite database by DB-IP.com, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
The launch list
What we keep
Your email address and the time you signed up. Nothing else is collected on this page: no name, no device details and no tracking.
Why
To send you launch news and the occasional update about the app, starting with the download link on launch day. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Who sees it
Only the two people who make Negative Splits, and Sender (sender.net), the email service that sends our messages and holds a copy of your address and signup time. A copy also sits on our own server. We do not sell the list or share it with anyone else.
Your IP address
Besides choosing your language (see This website), it is used only to stop one visitor from sending the form again and again. It is kept in memory for a short while and is never saved with your address.
Remove your address
Type it here and it is deleted from our server and from Sender straight away. You can also unsubscribe from any email we send.
